HOMESTAY KENANGA VILLA

Situated in Perlis, the northern most state of Peninsula Malaysia, bordering Thailand, this Homestay was established in the year 2011, following government initiative to promote eco-tourism. The location is inside a village halfway between Kangar, the State Capital, and Arau, the Royal Town, surrounded by vast rice fields. Perlis is famously known for its icon agro-product i.e. Mempelam Harumanis, a species of mango fruit that only thrive well in the state due to its hot and dry weather between January and May each year.

Originally Kenanga Villa was built and completed in the year 1975 for Hajjah Musalmah on a piece of land along a village lane Lorong Sri Kenanga, about 300 meters from the main road Jalan Tok Kayaman. Initially it has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 living room and 1 kitchen. The cost of building this house was borne by Hj Harun Ayob, then a young officer of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, the spouse of Hajjah Musalmah, Being always on the move with her husband through out his career in the Air Force, this house was  left in the care of Musalmah’s parents.

When her husband retired from His Majesty’s Service in 1996, the couple returned to stay at Kenanga Villa. They then carried out an extensive renovation of the house by adding 3 more bedrooms with attached bathrooms, making the total of 6 bedrooms, one office cum study, a living room, a dining and TV hall, a decorative fish pond and a natural garden.

Homestay facilities: Three super deluxe bedrooms measuring 14’x26’ with attached bathrooms and hot shower, comfortably suited for 4 persons per room, with air-conditioning, TV set, WiFi, mini-fridge, beverages, electric kettle, electric iron, towels and basic toiletry.

This is a real homestay concept accommodation whereby guests come to stay with the hosts, but still retain freedom of movement (independence), can enjoy living room facilities, dining hall, TV hall (Astro)
